We visited the park next to Glienicker Bridge today and enjoyed the sunshine and green! It was particularly interesting to see and climb on the "Findling" - a glacier-formed rock that was apparently given to Prinz Karl in 1824 when the whole Glienicker Palace and grounds were given to him. The rock has "1 Mai 1824" chiseled into it. There is a bit of text that has been chiseled out, apparently (see 2nd link below) a nazi slogan or message that people later didn't want to see.

Easter 2008 (1 photos)
Once again we spent Easter at Dunn Gardens - where Emily and I were married (that spot was covered in crocuses!) - where the rain did not keep the kids away from their treasured egg hunt. Isa is 6 and Oskar is 3, and we all had a wonderful day.

Many of these were cropped from photos taken on trips to Africa. Some are rather random patterns from photos taken around the house while goofing around with my digital camera. Most recently, I added a few from a trip we took this summer to Berlin and the south of France.

African Civil Society Consultation on Engagement with the AU in Nairobi, Kenya, 13-16 Jan 2006 (3 photos)
The consultation, which took place January 13-16 in Nairobi and was attended by Tobias Eigen, brought together about 60 people from African civil society and the African diaspora with the goal of developing an effective demand and partnership platform with the African Union. Without waiting for AU leaders to convene us and without AU representatives present, we discussed amongst ourselves how to progress thematic, sub-regional or country specific areas of work within a Pan African context. A report is being prepared by a drafting committee led by CREDO for Freedom of Expression and Associated Rights. Organizers released the Resolution of African CSOs on Unsuitability of Sudan to hold Presidency of AU which contains the names of all participating organizations. For further information and to get involved, see the newly launched AU Monitor Blog.

Lady Washington (16 photos)
The Lady Washington paid us a surprise visit this evening - what a beautiful ship! She spent the day at Brownsville across the water from us, offering dockside tours and "adventure sail" excursions. The sunset excursion must have been exquisite...
I'm clearly not the only one tagging photos as ladywashington. Click that and see some really gorgeous photos of the vessel.

Family Tree Photos (1 photos)
Emily gave Isa a "Family Tree" for Christmas. Here are the photos she used to create it, in case someone else wants to do something similar. Johanna had talked about creating a "memory" game, and we were also thinking of maybe creating a fun way to display the pictures using velcro.
Please update names if you like! :-) And if you want to upload more family portraits, please do - and add 'familytree' as a tag for the pics so we can see them too.
