Fachwerkhaus from 1583 in African Liberation Colors

A postcard from Bernkastel-Kues, a quaint town in the Mosel region of Germany. The houses here are beautifully maintained. This one, a pub repainted very recently with green, yellow and red highlights, has the rhyme at the top:

Altes Haus im neuen Kleid, Schirm dich Gott zu jeder Zeit

Translated, this means something like this:

“Old house in new clothes, God protect you always”

I love the idea that this centuries-old house has a new look with (I imagine) the influence of someone from my generation who loves Africa, or perhaps Bob Marley.

And a pic of another house that has the African liberation colors.
